Mercy Mission Blood Bank (MMBB) is a new NGO run blood bank being built in the heart of Bangalore city. MMBB is expected to commence operations towards the end of the year 2022. MMBB will be equipped with the latest instruments and facilities to avail high quality services for blood collection and transfusion, blood testing, blood storage etc.
Blood is one resource that can not be manufactured in the lab and is available only through donations. The metropolis of Bangalore has very few blood banks run by NGOs or not-for profit organisations to meet the ever growing demand for various blood components especially of the marginalised section of the city. Most of the operational blood banks are either commercially run or based out of private hospitals which often are out of reach for patients form low-income households.
MMBB is aiming for the provision of high quality services for blood donation and blood transfusion at an affordable range especially to the economically backward section suffering from diseases such as Thalassemia, BMT, Anaemia etc. which incurs high costs of medical treatments.
To inculcate the practice of voluntary blood donation among the general public.
To meet the blood donation need in Bengaluru city and surrounding districts for this precious resource MMBB wants to become a platform for life saving donations.
To build a strong network across hospitals, colleges, NGOs, religious institutions etc. to work together in order to meet this societal need.
To collaborate across communities to build strong bonds that will strengthen unity and foster peace in society.
